Being able to take good notes in class is an essential tool that is required to be able to succeed in the classroom. Notes are so important because if they are done right they contain all of the information needed for that class. Having all of this information means that when it comes time to take a test on the material you have all of the information you will need for it at your hands. Having this access will lead to better scores in the class and a better understanding of the subject as well.
Taking notes is different for every person. Different people categorize their information in different ways or use different methods of writing down information. Everybody seems to have their own unique way of taking notes. My way of taking notes is interesting apparently because whenever someone tries to borrow them they just hand them back because they cannot read them. Which is handy sometimes because I do not have to worry about losing my notes if no one wants them. The way I categorize my notes is by using the outline method. I use this method because it helps keep similar information together and can easily provide extra information about a subject if needed.
Now this is not what makes my notes different. The reason my notes are different is that they are meant for speedy writing. When taking notes I use as many abbreviations as I can, I use a mixture of messy cursive and print letters to speed up writing, and I omit information that I feel I have a strong concept of. These are the things I believe make my notes unique and hard to read because what I write down works for my brain when I read the notes but does not seem to work for others. This does not matter though because the notes are for my use and my brain.I suggest to others when taking notes that they make their own style that fits how their brain works.
