People learn in many different ways and can even have different ways of learning for different subjects or activities. I learn in many different ways and I notice this a lot when I am learning about sports. In sports one does not only have to gain knowledge about the subject at hand. He/she must also learn about the muscle movements involved. The addition of muscle movements means that I have to learn a different way. In class I normally am an audio or visual learner. I do not have to physically do an activity to learn about it. In sports this is a different story. I have to physically do the movements in order to learn them and apply them later on.
The way I learn to play sports is instead of my coaches only telling me what to or only showing me how to do an action. They will do tell me first so I get the idea and then have me do the action myself to see if I can do it correctly. If I have imperfections then they will tell me how to correct them until I do it correctly. Learning about these physical movements and then being able to apply that knowledge into performing the movement is how I learn to play sports.
An example of this is during football coaches will talk through a play and then the team will physically run that play. The team will then repeat that play a couple times not only to get rid of any imperfections but, to also allow the players to learn the muscle movements involved in the play. So next time the team will not have to think about what steps to take or how to do any other activity involved in the play. Another factor that helps me learn about sports better is watching film of me playing. Watching film allows me to see the mistakes that I happened to make out on the field and then either teach myself or ask a coach how to fix that mistake. Then when I know how to fix it I will learn it again using the same method I have already talked about. Some people will agree that this is a way that they learn to play sports some will disagree. Everyone has their own way of learning but, this is my way of learning how to play sports.
